The story I’m about to share with you is so remarkably unbelievable that it will surely be questioned by all intellects. However, the tale is as true as I’m always swishing three different flavored lollipops around in my mouth. |
One afternoon, on my way home, I passed through a park where eight teens were kicking a ball around in a grassy field. A strange-looking overweight bird in a superhero costume, waddled towards them yelling, “My name is Dum Dum Dodo. I’m a Goofball Superhero and I’m here to save you from yourselves, by bringing Peace, Love, and Laughter for Now and Forever After to all humans - just like the Dodo Creed says. So tell me who needs saving? Come right up and get dodoized, and help me complete my mission.”
A crowd gathered around him and shouted things like, “Look at that idiot in the Halloween costume.” Someone else cried out, “If you’re one of God’s creations, then God sure must have had a bad creation day.”
Dum Dum enthusiastically replied, “Yes, yes, I’m all that and what else … what else am I? Don’t stop now, but first, please tell me where I can find out more about jolly-jokers like yourselves that need rescuing?”
Then in one deafening voice they hollered, “Why don’t you put yourself out of your fat ugly misery, you moron?” As they walked away, I heard them muttering, “A Goofball Superhero, did you ever hear anything that stupid?”
Gingerly I approached, “Hi, I’m Lilly Lollipop the psychic librarian. I think I can help you,” I said as I calmly touched his wing. Being an intuitive librarian, I sensed his seven-chakra levels and was amazed. His aura of heart purity and childhood innocence radiated through my essence with the transformational energy of a highly-evolved avian being. But, how could such a silly, obviously, extinct Dodo bird have such a powerfully enlightened spirit? Where did he come from?

“You’re not from this world are you Dum Dum? Having overheard your conversation, I know a little about you, but your pure innocent energy tells me so much more of who you really are.”
“I’m a Dodo bird and all I know is how to make people laugh. Smart is not part of a Dodo’s heart. I can’t even read or write, but I know how to love everyone, no matter what they do or say to me. I was born only to love.”
“ I sense something uniquely special about you, Dum Dum. You’re not just here to make us laugh. You’re here for so much more—more
than even you could ever imagine. Maybe I could be your teacher or mentor as we humans prefer to call it.
Would you like that? Did you understand anything of what I said, Dum Dum?” shaking my head as if I knew that he didn’t.
“Not really, not your words, but your heart spoke to mine and it welcomes you, my teacher of teachers.”
Then I gave him a Dodo “To Do List”:
- You must work, play, and live with us.
- You must feel what we feel and share our joys, pains, and sorrows.
- You must cry with us, if Dodos can cry, and wipe our tears.
- You must love us for the violent and confused species that we are.
- You must empathize and sympathize with each and every one of us.
- You must ride our emotional manic ups, and depressive downs.
- You must know what motivates us to do what we do.

“Maybe then and only then will you get a glimpse of why we can do the most miraculous deeds, while at other times,
we are capable of the most grievous and horrendous atrocities.”
I hugged him with the hug of all hugs and said, “We’re a very complicated species, and I doubt if anyone can ever truly figure us out.
But good luck, Dum Dum.
Maybe with your pure and innocent heart you’re the only one who can.”
That was the beginning of my new life as Dum Dum’s teacher of teachers as he so joyously expressed.
